We received some fun news this week. Jeff Pickett's and my video for Life's Funny That Way has been named as an official selection in this year's SIMI Music Video Fest in Simi Valley, California. The showcase event will take place there on September 13 and various category winners will be chosen at that time. We're not sure yet if we will be able to attend, but either way, pretty darn cool.
I have to say that my involvement in the actual video was miniscule. I wrote the song, sang it and played some guitar. Jeff Smith at Studio 2100 produced it and played the other instruments and Sheila Davis sang backup vocals. There you go.
The person responsible for the video was Jeff Pickett. He came up with the concept and created every aspect of what you see on the screen. Without him there's just a song. As I've explained before, Jeff and I grew up as best buds in small town northern Missouri. After many years of lost connection, it's been one of my life's great pleasures to hook back up and do some creating together. He's responsible for this website and the artwork you see on it.
