“There used to be a time when the idea of heroes was important. People grew up sharing those myths and legends and ideals. Now they grow up sharing McDonalds and Disneyland.”
- Bob Dylan
We're heading to north Florida this morning. A quick trip in and out to move a relative to Springfield. It'll be me behind the wheel of a Penske truck heading back up through the old South. Since I'll be in Florida and Georgia, it's as good a time as any to talk about them. I've been putting off doing it because it's daunting for me. Between the two, six giant pillars in my life of music have come from there.
If I had the skill, I would write a War and Peace-sized treatise for each one that would explain what they've meant to me. I don't posses that skill, so I'm simply going to list them and leave it at that for today.
