“Should we talk about the weather?”
                    Pop Song 89/R.E.M.

I think one of the reasons God invented weather was to give family members who don't have much in common something to talk about.  I know I'm grateful for it.  Weather's handy, too, when you want to write a song.  It's probably the most used metaphor there is.  I saw this question the other day: “What's a good/great song with a weather event in the title?” There are hundreds and most everyone could probably name ten without breaking a sweat.  We all know some of the most obvious ones, but what about lesser known weather songs.  I have three below:

1.  Veteran Minnesota Americana stalwarts, The Jayhawks, put their spin on precipitation.

2. Between Amie and Vince Gill joining the band to croon Let Me Love You Tonight, Pure Prairie League had some fine albums.  A song from one of those here.

3.  If you're unfamiliar with Peter Gabriel's 1986 album, So, I feel you've missed out on something special.

What have you?
