“We discover and invent new ways of finding out the same old things.”
- Hal Hartley
On a flight to Billings, MT, yesterday, I was reminded that I miss the In-Flight magazine all airlines used to have. How's that for an old school, old guy lament? They went away during covid and never came back. I always liked having something tactile to hold and leaf through while the fellow boarders shuffled past. “Oh well” as the Fleetwood Mac song goes.
It's been a fine week of new songs, or new to me anyway. Before we discuss the music from Delaware tomorrow, which should take about two minutes, I'd like to share some of the musical bounty from the last few days.
Strangers & Angels/Flatland Cavalry: Pretty sweet from this Lubbock, TX bunch.
Wilson Silverstar 402 Blues/Noeline Hofmann: A talented young twangster from Alberta, Canada.
Remi Wolf/Bottle: Kids these days, they got the same old problems. Nothing new under the sun. Like always, singing about 'em helps about as much as anything.
Powerless/Judah & The Lion: My nephew's favorite band. Nice tune about, again, the same old human problems, just a different generation wrestling with 'em.
War on Drugs/Who's That: New from the dependably solid Philly outfit, singing about…a universal problem.
