“We have art in order not to die of life.”
                              - Albert Camus

Time for lyrics, old and new.

Parade of Loons/Mudcrutch: Pretty much every day I miss Tom Petty

We got twenty people talkin', one set of ears
I don't know how long it's been, but it feels like years
Yeah, they're comin' through the windows, comin' up the porch
Man, they've only got a livin' that's without cause

Razorwire Wall/Elizabeth Cook:  My neighbor was telling me a neighborhood story the other day.  He said that some years ago, when they were building a house just up the road, they found a working still in the little creek that runs nearby.  That seems appropriate for the Ozarks.  Anytime you can work a still into a song, it's probably going make it at least slightly interesting.  Elizabeth uses that notion here.  She also employs the backing vocals of Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours.  They're next up.

Meet you on the other side in just three days
In a brand new ride, you know I got my ways
And when they come around we'll be out of town, your mama knows the drill
We'll be in the woods under the hood of a moonshine still

The Funeral/Turnpike Troubadours:  I'd never be able to pick just one, but this is certainly among my favorite Troubadours' songs.

Well now stage right enter Jimmy, just a counterfeit James Dean
With a pocket full of delta blues and cheap amphetamines
Her feet up on the dashboard, like a burned-out Betty Paige
She might of been pretty if she were half her age
But together they were somethin', just a closin' down the bars
Headin' down to Okie City in a slightly stolen car

Who else?
