“Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines and bills to be paid.”
- Frank Zappa
I woke up wondering about this. I don't know why I had Georgia on my mind.
It's a Rainy Night in Georgia
The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
The Devil Went Down to Georgia
What's going on in Georgia?
Unrelated to that, it's a good time to feature a song by a band nobody knows. My friend, Mark Loft, turned me on to them years ago. They're a bunch out of Canada called Po' Girl. They blend several different styles of music, folk, country, jazz, and instruments (banjo, clarinet, harmonica, dobro and accordion) to create their own kind of cool. The original band is no longer together, Trish Klein and Allison Russell, the founders of the project, having gone on to other endeavors. But, while they were at it, they put some distinctive sounds and textures out into the universe.
