Today at the HyVee Food Store, I bought some Dolly Parton's Original Syrup. It comes in a guitar-shaped bottle with a pink lid and a caricature of Dolly on the front. I couldn't pass it up. It kind of made me happy. It got me to thinkin', is there any other famous person on earth that no one anywhere has anything bad to say about? Have you ever heard anyone say, “Boy, that Dolly Parton, I don't care for her.” Have you ever read an article or a tweet by a disgruntled somebody who had a negative experience with her? Anything at all? I can answer that, no you haven't. Most people smile when they hear her name, that's my experience. I've mentioned my buddy Clayton before. He did some acting back in the day. He met Dolly one time at a Hollywood function. He said, “She's exactly what you see.” It's remarkable, really, that someone whose been in the public eye as long as she has elicits such universal good will. If the term “National Treasure” applies to anyone, it is she.
