“Trust me. No woman can truly love a man who listens to Phil Collins.”
- Brendan/Sing Street
Two days ago I mentioned that I'd had a handful of conversations recently with kids in their late teens, early twenties, and how they're interested in the decades of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, especially the music. A while back, I also talked about three very fine music-centric films. One that I mentioned was a movie called Sing Street. Here's where I'm going with this.
If you grew up in the 80s or if you are a young person now who cares about that decade, I implore you, I beg of you, see this movie. It's a charming coming of age flick that masterfully captures the spirit of that era, fashion, music, mindset, the whole works. It takes place in Ireland which maybe adds to its appeal. Whatever the case, it's a winner. If you watch it and disagree, steak dinner on me. RP
