11-22-25 - Grief

“We all want something to mitigate the pain or to turn grief into something positive, to find a silver lining in the clouds.  But I believe there is real value in just standing there, being still, being sad.”
                                                                                                                               - John Green

This past week we learned of the death of a young man in Memphis who we'd known and watched grow up.  His family, friends of ours, are as fine as people come.  His passing is the kind that sends you reeling, disorienting like all tragedies that make no sense.  The kind of things that have no answers and that the universe will never explain.

Music serves for many people as an emotional companion through the vagaries of life.  It's a friend that's with us in the storms.  The shock of this week's news reminds me of the loss of other friends that have left too soon.  May they all rest in peace.
