1-28-26 - Please Turn That Up

“Why not just live in the moment, especially if it has a good beat?”
                                                                                       - Goldie Hawn

Yesterday's Songletter question on Substack was “Name one song that must be played loud.”  You know, songs that are so full of raw energy that no one would ever dream of trying to make a lollipop version for play at the grocery store. For some of us, they are songs that when they come on the radio or wherever, the immediate reaction is to reach for the dial and CRANK it.  It's as reactive as swatting a bee that lands on your arm.  No control.

We're talking about songs that having to listen to at low volume is a desecration; an affront to the rock and roll gods.  For me, it's like drinking weak coffee.  I'd rather have no coffee at all than some anemic solution and I'd rather not hear Welcome to the Jungle at all than hear it at 3.  Turn it up or turn it off.

So, although there's a list longer than from here to the Philippines, in keeping with the spirit of the question, I'll submit a single song that must be listened to LOUD.  What's your offering?
