Yesterday I saw a headline that said “Country Music Superstar” did such and such notable thing. It didn't say who it was in the headline. I was curious so I checked the article. I vaguely recognized the name. It was one of those twenty or more bro-country guys that are interchangeable and indistinguishable from each other.
It got me to thinkin', when and how does someone become a “superstar?" What is the criteria for that? When does someone cross over from being a mere “star” to being a “superstar?” What makes someone a “star” in the first place? When does a “rising star” become a “star?” Who decides these things? Does someone just proclaim it and that makes it so? Is there a committee somewhere? I'd like to have a vote.
